United States History to 1877

This course covers the Age of Exploration (circa 1400) to the end of Reconstruction.

You will be exposed to the historical, geographic, political, economic, and sociological events which influenced the development of the United States and the resulting impact on world history.

In order for you to clearly see the relationship between cause and effect in historical events, you will have the opportunity to explore those fundamental ideas and events which occurred during and prior to Reconstruction.

This course offers scaffolded learning opportunities for you to develop the critical skills of analysis, synthesis, and evaluation in a more rigorous and reflective academic setting.

My goal is to empower you to perform at higher levels as you engage in the following:

Analyze historical documents and supplementary readings
Work in the context of thematically categorized information
Become proficient in note-taking
Participate in Socratic seminars/discussions
Engage in free-response and document-based writing
Explore contrasting opposing viewpoints
